Through its awards programs, PREA recognizes and assists students engaged in the study of real estate and related fields, researchers who have contributed actionable insights into portfolio management and the property markets, and rising institutional investors who demonstrate leadership potential.

PREA James A. Graaskamp Award

To highlight and encourage high quality research in the area of institutional investment in real estate, PREA, through its Institutional Investor Council, established The Graaskamp Award to recognize such work. The award is named in memory of the late Dr. James A. Graaskamp, one of the greatest researchers of our time, a distinguished professor of real estate at the University of Wisconsin, and a champion of research of immediate use to investment decision makers. John W. Koza Leadership Program

Named in recognition of former chairman John Koza, a respected industry leader and exponent of investor education, the Leadership Fellows Program is designed to promote engagement in PREA among up-and-coming leaders in the institutional investor community. The objective is to familiarize young investors with the organization early in their careers to ensure that they are fully aware of the educational resources available to them. The program will also be a source of the association’s next generation of institutional leadership. Click here for more information.

Toigo Foundation

For over 10 years, PREA has granted $10,000 annually to the Toigo Foundation, a national non-profit which supports students at the MBA level pursuing careers in financial services, including real estate. This grant is used to fund scholarships to 2nd year students to support their education and professional development in real estate. Students attend PREA’s Annual Institutional Investor conference to benefit from the invaluable exchange around industry practices and investment insights. The application for this collaborative partnership award is managed directly by the Toigo Foundation.

The Toigo Foundation’s mission is to foster the career advancement and increased leadership of underrepresented talent within Financial Services by creating mechanisms for greater inclusion from the classroom to the boardroom. Today the organization has supported more than 1,500 outstanding leaders in our industry; including nearly 100 with careers in real estate investment or as plan sponsor investment officers.
